This store is also a true "Mom and Pop" store that has been run by Tracey and her parents. Many of you have come to know and love this family. You were their when Tracey and her family welcomed Tracey's daughter Amber into their lives and when Tracey lost her belove...d dad. They have had up's, downs and a whole lotta hanging in their trying to keep their doors open. And, like I said, many of you So. Cal Peep's have become family to this store.
Page trimmers allow you to cut paper cleanly and precisely. Use a page trimmer when you need to cut cardstock, patterned paper, or pictures to fit neatly into your album. You can save time by stacking multiple pages in your trimmer and cutting them simultaneously. For smaller cutting tasks, use a sturdy pair of scissors. Long-bladed scissors are helpful for quick cutting jobs that require flexibility, such as cutting out letters or tricky shapes. Scissors are also handy for cutting scrapbook embellishments like ribbons and stamps.
The advent of scanners, desktop publishing, page layout programs, and advanced printing options make it relatively easy to create professional-looking layouts in digital form. The internet allows scrapbookers to self-publish their work. Scrapbooks that exist completely in digital image form are referred to as "digital scrapbooks" or "computer scrapbooks".

I would have given it FIVE stars because I like the owner and what she is trying to do. Her creations for the Shop that Did Not Hop are fantastic! I like the Youtube videos a lot-- very helpful.
Many consider journaling one of the most important elements of any scrapbook. Journaling is a personal choice and it can describe the event, the photographs, or relate feelings and emotions. Handwritten journaling is considered best by some scrapbookers who see handwriting as valuable for posterity, but many people journal on the computer and print it onto a variety of surfaces including vellum, tape, ribbon, and paper.
One of the key components of modern scrapbooking is the archival quality of the supplies. Designed to preserve photographs and journaling in their original state, materials encouraged by most serious scrapbookers are of a higher quality than those of many typical photo albums commercially available. Scrappers insist on acid-free, lignin-free papers, stamp ink, and embossing powder. They also use pigment-based inks, which are fade resistant, colorfast, and often waterproof. Many scrappers use buffered paper, which will protect photos from acid in memorabilia used in the scrapbook. Older "magnetic" albums are not acid-free and thus cause damage to the photos and memorabilia included in them. Gloves, too, are used to protect photos from the oil on hands.
Instant cameras and film are ridiculously fun, creative ways for making and sharing memories. Paste them into books, with as much or as little text as you desire, or pick a wall in your home/office to create a personalized art installation. They can be used to make a baby book or be more travel-centric. Also, whether you have a classic Polaroid or a new Instax, they are so easy to use, that your kids can have their own roll of film to capture memories of their own. Photo strips from photo booths work great, too!
This is a great book for scrapbookers. It has many ideas on scrapbook pages for people who have a lot of time and those who just have a little time. It also gives ideas on how to use color, handwriting and fonts, how to sort and store your stuff, and how to make digital pages. I found it very useful to get ideas and thought it was organized well and easy to use.
Also, also on a good note, I've seen a few of Stacey's videos and have learned some things. For instance, now i know the difference between a Sizzix Big Kick and a Sizzix Big Shot! And now i know why I don't see the Big Shot in Joann's or Michael's! (I hear more of the Big Shot than the Big Kick, so I wanted to find out the difference between them.)
They curently do not charge your credit card until it is being packaged for shipping. They don't hide anything. "it ships when it ships." They announce this all the time, especially when they are coming up to their busy times of year. I can't imagine how many orders they get during her big event times of the year mentioned above. Must be in the thousands.
My wife goes to SMS quite literally all the time so I suppose you could say I go here all the time. I am not a scrapbook aficionado because I am quite literally "artistically challenged." I own it, I admit it, I don't try to pretend I'm anything I'm not. However, having been in this store as many times as I have with my wife, I feel the need to elaborate more specifically on the things the spouses of scrapbooking people might enjoy: + Clean restroom, always clean. Yes, we notice these things. + Lots of goodies for customers. Who doesn't like candy? + Staff is always super nice and friendly! + Stacy, the owner, is probably one of the nicest, most sincere people I've ever met. + Most important: There is a "husband chair." Suggestions: * Wi-Fi. Husbands like Wi-Fi. (A PlayStation wouldn't hurt either...) Warnings: It can get very crowded, especially when there is a sale--maybe not Costco proportions but crowded nonetheless. They have multiple registers open, and they're pretty efficient about getting people checked out. Cell service can be very spotty in the store. That's not a SMS problem but just be warned that you may not be able to make/receive calls reliably while you're in the store.
Cardstock is the firm paper onto which you’ll glue your photos and embellishments. Typically, it's more flexible than paperboard, but stiffer than standard paper. You can find cardstock in a wide range of solid colours, patterns and textures, so it's easy to choose a look that matches your theme. Consider solid-colour cardstock if you plan on tearing pages for effect and don't want to expose an unattractive white core. Look for acid and lignin-free cardstock for decorated pages that will resist fading and discolouring over time.
There are SO many ways to make travel memories last a lifetime. Snap pictures during your time on the long airplane or car ride, save maps from your road-trip, or arrange the scraps from some of your favorite haunts to make vacation memory scrapbooking (ok, ok, and shadow-box displays) easy as pie. (Scientific reminder: any pie eaten while on vacation results in weight LOSS, not gain. It’s vacation science.). Read on for the perfect travel scrapbook inspiration.
A friend and I went to this store in August 2013 and I ordered a $ 9 stamp set and she ordered a Halloween die for less then $10. The store sale was 20% off entire store. My friend grabbed the last stamp "My Favorite Things a la modes Fight like a Girl" and so I paid for it and Stacey said she would still give us the 20% off and ship both our orders to us free since they were out of stock on these items. I gave her my address to mail both items to save her shipping costs.
Just like old memories, scrapbook pages often benefit from a few embellishments. There's endless array of arts and crafts decorations available to add spice and pizazz to your journaling. Your options include ribbons, glitter, 3D stickers, and self-adhesive chipboard pieces featuring words or phrases relevant to your theme. In keeping with your personal style and the type of scrapbook you're creating, you can mix and match multiple embellishments to add flair to your story and make your pages pop.
I actually just got started into rubber stamping and die cutting and stuff. (I have had a Sizzix Big Kick machine for years, and haven't used it much. Finding out that these die cuts that are available with some stamps work with this machine, got me into using it again!) You see, I do cross stitch. But the magazines I get from the bookstore comes from the uk. And two magazines went out of production, so there aren't many cross stitch designs for cards, anymore. So i thought i would try cross stitching designs with rubber stamping (cling/clear, whatever you call it) combined!
* We also recommend using our WorkBox on hardwood or tile flooring. If using on carpet, you may need to add a solid surface to allow WorkBox wheels to move freely. Opening and closing the WorkBox on carpet may cause added stress on the product. If you have vinyl flooring, check the manufacturing specs to see what it can tolerate as to weight. The WorkBox can be up to 1200 lbs with added craft supplies!
I gave this 3 stars because I've got mixed opinions. One, i have two things on order since the 18th of September 2017. It is now going into week 4, and still haven't gotten the order. (Do they have favorite customers and tend to them first? Hmmmm.) When I emailed, I get a reply saying that they are behind on their orders and stuff like that. It's two Stamping Bella stamp sets and they don't carry this brand any where else, except of course the actual company. I am so used to my orders coming within days to, at most, a week or two, but this is way too long. I'm not too far away from the store, but they don't have these particular stamps in their store. :-/ Two, on the other side of the coin, I've also been in their store! How neat and clean it is! And the people there are oh so friendly, too. And this is the first store I've gone to that has the LAWN FAWN products! And they sell the stamps and dies as a bundle! Don't know if that is a good or bad thing, tho. I actually just got started into rubber stamping and die cutting and stuff. (I have had a Sizzix Big Kick machine for years, and haven't used it much. Finding out that these die cuts that are available with some stamps work with this machine, got me into using it again!) You see, I do cross stitch. So i thought i would try cross stitching designs with rubber stamping (cling/clear, whatever you call it) combined! I got a little claustrophobic once when I went on a Saturday, (although my doctor called it an anxiety attack, when the same symptoms occured a couple years ago where I used to work!) so i avoid going on Saturdays. I found out it was probably coupon day or the anniversary sale or something when I went, so oh well, no coupons for me. Avoiding saturdays there from now on, might be a good idea for me. Also, also on a good note, I've seen a few of Stacey's videos and have learned some things. For instance, now i know the difference between a Sizzix Big Kick and a Sizzix Big Shot! And now i know why I don't see the Big Shot in Joann's or Michael's! (I hear more of the Big Shot than the Big Kick, so I wanted to find out the difference between them.) Anyway, thanks for what you do in the store. Wish your shipping could be a little better, though. Thats why the loss of two stars.
They have been updating their systems and hiring new employees, but in order to continue giving the deep discounts to their customers and still be profitable, they can't go hiring hundreds of employees to manage all their orders or spend tens of thousands on a better system. They offer free shipping on most items with a $50 or more order. There are a few items that weigh so much they cannot offer free shipping. With each new change that has been implemented, there have been improvements on shipping times. They are doing what they can and eventually they will find that formula that works best to reduce ship times to the best they possibly can. It's all a matter of finding those solutions. The owners of this store really want the best for their customers which is why they work so hard to get amazing products at amazing prices.

The most important scrapbooking supply is the album itself, which can be permanently bound, or allow for the insertion of pages. There are other formats such as mini albums and accordion-style fold-out albums. Some of these are adhered to various containers, such as matchbooks, CD cases, or other small holders. When scrap artists started moving away from the "page" and onto alternative surfaces and objectives, they termed these creations "altered items" or now simply called "off-the-page". This movement circles back to the history of art from the 1960s when Louise Nevelson was doing "Assemblages" with found objects and recycled parts.
